Amersham Art Group Spring Exhibition   Amersham Art Group are having their annual Spring exhibition between Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th May 2013, in the Old Market Hall in Old Amersham. There will be paintings in various media painted by members of the group exhibited - most pictures will be for sale.

I am in a 2 bed flat in Little Chalfont, it's in a lovely, quiet area of mainly older residents. It has parking, quiet communal gardens, own washing line, and new central heating. I am looking for someone who has a 3 bed house (or even a large 2 bed where a room could be split!) and wants to downsize and swap with me. I love the area I'm in, and the flat, but with two children aged 5 and 13, it would be really nice if they could have their own rooms.

 

I have tried all the normal homeswapper routes, websites etc, but I thought I would try here in case anyone knows of perhaps an older person who wants to downsize but doesn't have access to the internet or even know about swapping!

Our house in London is under offer and we're having real difficulty finding a suitable house to buy in Amersham.

I've been happily accessing the forum on my Android phone - until yesterday.  Now it comes up with an error message:

[#10339] The topic filter settings you submitted are not valid.  Please go back and reset your topic filter settings.

With the full version I can go no further.  With the mobile version I can get in but only by clicking on the icon with four squares.

 

I'm not aware of ever having set any filters and I can't find any way of resetting them.  The help files are no help.

 

Any ideas?

Appeal for information following arson - Amersham

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information regarding an incident of arson in Amersham.

Police are investigating a fire in a stairwell at a block of flats in Chiltern Heights, White Lion Road, Amersham, at about 8pm on Monday (15/4).

 

Residents were evacuated from their properties and a number of people were treated for smoke inhalation.

Police are treating the incident as arson with intent to endanger life.

I'm always on the lookout for new/interesting food around here...... Had a takeaway from here the other day - was really tasty... I cant say authentic, as I've never been to Vietnam (sadly ..), but fresh, bright unusual flavours, especially liked the dish with 'betel' leaves! It is small restuarant housed in the Gamekeepers Arms, Chesham.

I am looking for a reliable and caring nanny/babysitter to watch my lively 18 month old. The Pheasant Inn, Plantation Road has been sold apparently to developers. It is rumoured that it is being sold to the same developer that demolished The Red Lion. Yet another community asset disappearing.

About to put our house in Amersham on the market and wondering which estate agent(s) to use.  Does anyone have any experience good or bad please?

Anyone got any ideas what this shape could be at the end of Copperkilns lane? Is it a natural feature or could it be evidence of past human activity? Eg a camp or some sort of fortification at the top of the valley there.
